Team for Man Utd.
Man Utd seem to be going through some kind of crisis, with several key players performing below par. It certainly won't be an easy game but it's probably quite a good time to play them.

At the back, hopefully we can welcome Zouma back. I would have brought him in to give Dawson a rest, given that he has apparently been playing with a minor injury, but Diop was so poor against Leeds so has to make way.

Soucek should be back, which will give us much more about us up front and at the back, particularly in the air. I'm not convinced by Lanzini in that role - we all got excited about one great performance from him last season, but he's no Luka Modric. He can move up to one of the attacking positions to replace the also unconvincing Vlasic.

Fabianski
Coufal Dawson Zouma Cresswell
Soucek Rice
Bowen Lanzini Fornals
Antonio

Jasnik, what's Troy's distribution like?
I'm sick of the defense just booting it up field when under pressure.

That's fake news. There are not seven who are definitely out, but there could be UP TO seven out. Probably more like three or four.

Re: Team for Man Utd.
Smokescreen - Ronaldo will play.

Regardless of those 7 reported players, they have Rashford, Martial, Greenwood, Fernandez, Fred, Mctominay, etc etc etc - sounds like some early excuses in case they don’t win.

Load of bollocks.

I just hope we can play our strongest side and the week rest has done us good.

West Ham get major boost as seven key Man United stars are ruled out of Old Trafford clash
21st January 2022Damien Charles Lucas

West Ham get major boost as SEVEN Manchester United stars are ruled out of tomorrow’s Premier League clash at Old Trafford.

Hammers boss David Moyes brings his high-flying side to his former club on Saturday afternoon as the battle for the top four intensifies.

Fourth-placed West Ham’s 3-2 home defeat to Leeds last time out has opened the door for Man United to leapfrog them with a win.

But Moyes and his boys will be hoping to slam that door shut in Man United’s face.

The Old Trafford side somehow escaped with a 2-1 win in the reverse fixture. West Ham were comfortably the better side and missed a last gasp penalty to take a draw – which was the least their efforts deserved.

West Ham did not have to wait long for a measure of revenge when they beat Man United in the Carabao Cup at Old Trafford three days later.

There is so much riding on this big clash when it comes to the top four battle.

So having the best possible team available will be key for West Ham. Tomas Soucek and Kurt Zouma could be back involved to give Moyes a lift.

And the Scot has this evening received a major boost as no less than SEVEN Man United stars look set to be ruled out of the match.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Jadon Sancho, Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw, Eric Bailly and Edinson Cavani all look set to miss the game according to an update on Man United’s website.

And the game also comes too soon for the returning Paul Pogba.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Rangnick confirmed Ronaldo is a doubt with a neck strain. Wan-Bissaka is injured and Sancho is on personal leave after a death in the family.

“Cristiano Ronaldo has emerged as a doubt for Manchester United’s Premier League game with West Ham United,” Man United’s website states.

“The no.7 sustained a neck problem during the 3-1 victory at Brentford in midweek, when he was substituted for the closing stages. Although receiving treatment on the injury, he could face a race against time in order to be fit for the 15:00 GMT kick-off on Saturday (22 January).

“Interim manager Ralf Rangnick provided a team news update to club media after speaking at the pre-match press conference and confirming that Victor Lindelof has joined fellow defenders Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw and Eric Bailly on our list of absentees, following a break-in at the Sweden skipper’s home.

“With Paul Pogba not yet ready to return from injury, there could be better news regarding Jesse Lingard and Scott McTominay.

“However, striker Edinson Cavani is another doubt for the visit of the fourth-placed Hammers.”

Man United have a ridiculously strong squad.

But this is a huge chance for West Ham to get a result given the strength of Moyes’s side and the fact the Hammers have had a rare full week off to prepare.

Conversely Man United were in London on Wednesday night where they somehow beat Brentford 3-1 despite being second best for much of the game.

Diop is shit but Dawson gets away with murder. Turns like a cart horse, atrocious with the ball and can’t run. He is better than Diop but that isn’t saying much. Together they are league 1 standard.

Strange as my memories of the Leeds game was Dawson was rubbish, as was Coufal) and Diop was the better of the 2 CBs

Re: Team for Man Utd.
Diop’s started playing like David Luiz did in that Brazil game where they lost 7-1. All over the shop.

Zouma for Diop obvs.

Even Johnson for Diop.

Fuck it, I'll play instead of Diop.

And first for most shinned touches and mis controls.

I’ve always championed Antonio from the days where all everyone ever said about him was “raw” but Leeds in the cup aside, he’s been pretty woeful playing through the middle in recent weeks.

He actually does much better and gives us more going to the wing. Ultimately he’s a winger who wants to run behind, balls to feet and hold up play are not his game. His movement in the box is actually pretty good but unless you played lone striker all your life, holding off defenders week in week out, it’s a hard thing to pick up.

I also think he is carrying some niggles which aren’t helping.

Ultimately Antonio isn’t a great footballer - he is a good footballer that has ability and potential to play great - but he has and will continue to have days where the ball bounces off him like he is Carlton Cole’s brother.

I agree that Okoflex is overdue a run-out, but from the bench, not a start.

It's a bit harsh for people to be talking about dropping Coufal after one under par performance. If it continues, then yes, by all means, but give it a break.

Re: Team for Man Utd.
Yeah, which is why he’s in my line up?

All I’m saying is, if he’s not firing, try someone else or move him out wide. Not that controversial really is it.

We do have youth players scoring in the U23s, so it wouldn’t hurt to give them some minutes.

Do you mean Antonio, the player with the 4th most goal creating actions in the league behind?

Salah
Bowen
Trent AA

4th most goal and 6th most assists?

Re: Team for Man Utd.
If available I would start Zouma, Soucek, Johnson with Benni on bench.

Diop, Coufal and Lanzini to make way. Other than that same team as Leeds.

White Pony 12:11 Fri Jan 21
Re: Team for Man Utd.
If Zouma is fit, him instead of Diop obviously.
